The names Sandi Patty, Steve Darmody, Rudy Micelli and Christian Edition are well known in Christian music and, individually, each of these artists has graced the Inland Empire, including Loma Linda, throughout the years with their world-class talent.
If individually they draw audiences to the Inland Empire from throughout Southern California, together they will no doubt be packing the house on September 10 for the Sandi Patty and Friends concert at the Vallejo Drive Seventh-Day Adventist Church in Glendale, in what promises to be a very memorable, once in a lifetime music and wellness ministry feast for the ears and the soul.
Throughout her nearly 30-year career, Sandi Patty has become an icon in Christian music. She has won 40 Dove Awards, four Billboard Music Awards, five Grammy Awards and in 2004 was inducted into the Gospel Music Hall of Fame. Her work has inspired many of today’s Christian artists, including those who will have the privilege of sharing a stage with her at the September 10 concert.
“I’m one of millions of fans who has found that her music has provided a soundtrack to their lives,” says Steve Darmody of Sandi Patty. “Her honest and courageous spirit is the example that strengthens me in my own ministry.”
For Rudy Micelli, the chance to sing with Sandi Patty is a lifelong dream come true. As a young boy in Brazil he first heard her music on the radio while sweeping a church floor and her powerful rendition of How Great Thou Art deeply impacted him. And the fact that the concert takes place on his birthday may also be one of the best presents ever.
And originally formed in 1981, Christian Edition, an all men’s chorus, has had the privilege of performing at some of the nation’s most prestigious stages, including the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion, Caesar’s Palace, the Crystal Cathedral and the Mt. Rubidoux Easter Sunrise Service.
For Patty, who now lives in Oklahoma, the concert will also be a homecoming.
“I’m very excited about coming back to Southern California. I don’t get here enough,” she said. “I did a show about four years ago in Riverside with Christian Edition and it was a wonderful experience. I’m looking forward to singing with them again and working with Rudy Micelli and Steve Darmody.”
As amazing as the concert itself promises to be, the event is not just about music, but also about spiritual, physical and personal wellness and health.
“I’m thrilled to be working with Lifestyle Magazine and Mike and Gayle Tucker,” Patty says of the hosts of Lifestyle Magazine, one of the event sponsors. “And Glendale Adventist Hospital is the best for supporting an all around healthy lifestyle. God gave us this mind and body and we need to take care of it. This concert is going to be good for the body, mind and spirit!”
After the concert guests will have the opportunity to visit booths providing health and wellness information and resources.
With great music, great people and wellness theme, it is not too soon to start planning for an unforgettable and inspiring evening.
Tickets are now on sale at $23 for general admission and $38.50 for VIP seating and a meet and greet with the artists afterwards. The concert will be held at Vallejo Drive SDA Church located at 300 Vallejo Drive in Glendale.
