Dear Steve:
As you know, I have moved overseas to serve as a missionary in the Philippines. Yesterday, I flew down to a remote little village in Mindanao, in the Southern Philippines, where I will preach today to 3,500 kids as part of their week-long youth congress. I am waaayyy out in the stix. After flying down here, we drove over 2 hours over tiny little roads to get to this village. I am staying in a local family’s home. They do not even have running water. Yet, this morning at 5:45 am, I am woken up when the man of the house put on, as he calls it, his Sabbath CD- YOU, singing In the Sweet By and By. So thanks, buddy, for waking me up this morning!!
Actually, it really was nice, hearing a familiar voice, so far from home.
Blessings to you and Joni in your ministry for Him today…and happy Sabbath, when it finally gets to you!
In His Service,
Kevin K. Costello, Associate Treasurer, SSD

This past weekend marked the second weekend in a row that Joni and I have enjoyed the fellowship and been inspired by the ministry of It Is Written Canada. Speaker/Director, Bill Santos and his wife, Fatima, are wonderful examples of leadership fueled by ‘vision’. We also had the privilege of meeting another of our eStore artists, Paul Antunes. The Partnership weekend was in the Sheraton Cavelier and provided Joni and I with a wonderful, restful retreat with great food, awesome fellowship and the opportunity to be blesses by several other artists, like Isabel Santos, Alex Reichert and Paul Antunes. I wish you all could have joined us.

William & Vivian Piersanti with Joni and Steve

We met the Piersanti family (William and Vivien – seen below) by random as we sat down to eat on Friday night. As we talked we were surprised to learn that our daughter and their daughter-in-law were close friends. On that very weekend, our daughter and her husband were invited over to Kiera’s and Nathan’s home to celebrate Canada’s Thanksgiving with a special meal. What a small world!

Joni and I had a wonderful weekend with “It Is Written Canada” in Winnipeg over the weekend. Sunday morning before we flew home, we accepted an invitation to have beakfast in the home of Ruben and Christine Wollmann. Christine is one of our eStore artists and sings for IIW in the US.

I’m leaving in the next couple of hours. Still haven’t packed clothes. I’m sending this message and picture from my iPhone. I plan to take candid iPhone pictures throughout the week and “blog” them directly to this website/blog.
Somehow, and it’s still a mystery for Delta Airlines, they moved my gate at the last minute and then when I went back to my gate from uploading a file for a concert in Springfield for that Saturday night, I, simply put, got on the wrong plane!!! – although it was at my correct gate – and ended up in New York City. I’m on a return flight now from JFK to STL. (see iphone picture to the right.) Another chapter for my book!
I loved, as always, my weekend at 3ABN with Jim Gilley and Danny Shelton. Also there was my lifelong friend – “the voice I want to be when I grow up” – Herman Harp.
Leave a comment (you have to create an account and then login – see bottom right side bar) and share your most embarrassing travel story. |

Steve Performed LIVE on Cornerstone TeleVision, Friday night, Aug. 22. Over a two hour period Steve sang 50 minutes worth of songs from your latest CD, “The Time That Remains”. Ron Hembree, the Executive Director of the network, and Steve enjoyed bantering back and forth on camera.
Cornerstone Television is one of our nation’s largest and most respected satellite networks. Steve first performed on Crossroads in December of 1996 when he was asked to share a live Christmas Concert. Steve has appeared on Cornerstone four times since, including a Friday night slot in 2007 when he was asked to preach! What an honor that was for Steve. Many people don’t know that Steve pastored for 12 years. While being interviewed by Ron Hembree, Ron brought up the fact that Steve had been an SDA pastor and while on live TV invited him back the next night. ”I feel impressed that God has a message for us through Steve”, Ron shared. When the opportunity comes to speak, Steve considers it a precious opportunity.
Below is one of the songs Steve sang during the two hour musical feature entitled, Free. Buy a copy.
